I took a break at lunchtime today to catch the Queen’s visit to Stratford-upon-Avon for the official opening of the new Royal Shakespeare Theatre.  I missed her opening the new Justice Centre in Leamington earlier in the day as I was busy with a corporate portrait session, but the sun came out for the RST event so it worked out well. There were crowds of onlookers lining Waterside waiting for the royal entourage to appear. Once they’d driven past we got a few glimpses of the royal party on the steps of the theatre and then it was all over as they disappeared inside the newly refurbished theatre for lunch. The Queen tends to wear bright, solid colours and I’m wondering if that’s deliberate as it made her very easy to spot from a distance.

As an added bonus, I bumped into my pal Sarah and her family so we adjourned to a coffee shop for a gossip.  All in all, a good day and so great to see that lovely spring sunshine back again :-)
