Are you in the jubilee mood yet?  It’s hard to avoid it if you live in the UK – red, white and blue bunting everywhere if Warwick is anything to go by.  I am definitely in festive mode as the diamond jubilee officially starts tomorrow for me  –  I’m photographing our local school celebrations and I know the children have put a lot of effort into making bunting and crowns and all sorts of things so I’m really looking forward to it.  Fingers crossed for dry weather!  So while we’re all in patriotic mode, if you’re planning a street party this weekend or just a family get together in your garden you might be in need of some  inspiration for decorating cakes for your guests.  If so, here are some more pics from Monday’s super session with Lisa from Cake by Lisa Price.  She’s given you all the details of where to get your cake decorations over on her blog.  (Don’t forget to check out her fantastic wedding cake and birthday cake designs too.)

Lisa brought her own cake stands but I also have a supply of food photography props and I’d been waiting for an excuse to try out these individual cake stands.  I think they worked perfectly for the crown cakes.

Cupcakes decorated with strawberries, blueberries and flags

You might have seen my heart shaped union jack bunting before on the cover photograph I did for Families Warwickshire magazine this month.  It will be making another appearance tomorrow, this time decorating my stand at the Kenilworth Show.  Pop and see me in the shopping marquee if you get chance – I might even give you one of my new balloons :-)

And finally, if you read my post earlier this week you’ll know Lisa’s cakes tasted every bit as good as they looked.  They certainly got the thumbs up from the rest of the Scannell clan at teatime.

UPDATE:  If you found this blog post because you love all things British, check out the lovely “Smitten by Britain” blog.  You might recognise one of the photos on their Diamond Jubilee party advice page.
