What an exciting night yesterday! It was the Warwick Rocks Food & Film Festival Awards ceremony in the very grand surroundings of Warwick Castle’s Great Hall. We know how to do things in style in Warwick, so it was a glamorous affair with a Great Gatsby theme. Golf Professional, Julian Mellor and I were up for the Best Short Film Award for our film about Jack Burns.  If you’ve read my previous blog post about our film, you’ll know that the Jack Burns story is my first documentary film so when Phil Upton from BBC Coventry and Warwickshire announced that the winner was “Warwick’s forgotten sporting hero” I was amazed. So here it is, the very stylish award made by Hatton & Harding. It’s on my sideboard at the moment, but it seems only fitting to hang it down in the Golf Centre next to Jack’s picture, so Julian and I will sort that out in the next week or so.

A big thank you to Julian for suggesting Jack’s story and for being brave enough to get in front of the camera and present it all – he did a fantastic job. I’d also like to thank the organisers of the film competition, Warwick Rocks. I usually make fusion films (a mix of stills and video set to music) but it gave me a great excuse to branch out into a completely different genre and I loved it. I’m looking round for my next film subject now, so if you’ve got any ideas, get in touch.
